Travel Vaccinations

Non-urgent advice: We are currently unable to offer travel vaccinations to our patients

Please do not ring reception or attempt to book an appointment for this service with us.

These vaccinations at the present time are only available at private clinics

Medication Abroad

Can we remind patients to consider carefully the medications that you take abroad – see this document for full advice.

We offer a general travel service for all our patients, but sadly have had to cease our Yellow Fever Service. Our appointments for travel are very popular and are limited on our system to allow our nurses to fulfil all the needs of our patient population.

A completed travel form (see below) must be handed in to reception before booking an appointment in the travel clinic, but please check with reception our current availability as we only run one clinic a month. Please ensure your appointment to see our travel nurse is between 6 and 8 weeks before your planned travel date.

Depending on your destination, accommodation, activities and length of stay, a course of vaccinations may be required or advisable.  Other local pharmacies are able to support patients who are travelling at short notice or unable to be seen in our clinics. You can view your own immunisations if you have online access or this can be requested via the reception team.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:

Travel Vaccination Fees

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Travel Health Questionnaire

To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before booking an appointment with the nurse.

Please deliver a completed form for each travelling member of the family to your usual surgery. Our clinic runs on a Monday afternoon at Harvey House. You will be given 30 minutes for the first appointment. Travel appointments at Jersey Farm may be available from time to time

If you have details of previous vaccinations then it would be helpful if you bring these along.

Travelling in Europe

If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.

Useful tips to help make the most of your nurse’s time:

Multiple problems – please book a double appointment
Do you have a ‘shopping list’ of problems that you have been saving up? If so, please consider booking a double routine appointments.

Why?
Surgeries are booked with back- to -back appointments. To help us run to time, you may be asked to make another appointment if you have multiple problems that can not be safely dealt with in a single appointment.

Minor Infections

Except in babies aged under six weeks (unless just sticky eyes), or for those with a bad cough and suspected chest infection.
