During the academic year we teach Final Year medical students from University College London Hospital.
As part of their training it is important that students see a wide range of conditions and also have a chance to see patients on their own before being reviewed by a GP. You may therefore be offered an appointment with a medical student instead of a GP, or be asked whether a medical student can sit in on your consultation to observe the GP.
If you do see a Medical Student first you will always see a GP as well, and we find that the majority of patients enjoy contributing to student training in this way.
We understand that sometimes you may not wish a medical student to be present, and if this is the case, please let the receptionist know when you book in, or let the GP know when he or she calls you in.
